Introduction

Saahas Foundation Inclusive Resource Centre is a community-led social enterprise that works for the empowerment of people who are marginalised and vulnerable, including persons with disabilities.

We believe that our community-led social enterprise, predominantly active in the rural, semi-urban and other identified cluster areas, fosters social and economic development in a community framework.

The UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled Persons (CRPD) that came into effect on 3rd May 2008 stipulates that “disabled persons”, whatever the origin, nature and seriousness of their handicaps and disabilities, have the same fundamental rights as their fellow-citizens of the same age, which implies first and foremost the right to enjoy a decent life, as normal and full as possible.” In addition, it states that “Disabled persons are entitled to the measures designed to enable them to become as self-reliant as possible”.

Saahas Foundation Inclusive Resource Centre believes that every individual can be enabled to perform developmental activities and become more independent and integrated into the mainstream society through effective advocacy, training, education and societal support systems. It is therefore crucial that community and society both work in coherence to provide a sustainable environment for the quality of life the individuals deserve.

Saahas Foundation Inclusive Resource Centre is a company registered under section 8 of the Companies Act 2013, the incorporation status of which is ‘not for profit’.
